CONSULTING FIRM
IN BERLIN
In a successful conglomeration consisting of listed buil-
dings and examples of contemporary architecture in Ber-
lin-Friedrichshain, in the immediate vicinity of the East
Side Gallery, Seel Bobsin Partner designed varied wor-
king environments with additional space for catering and
events. They opted for movable furniture and a colour
concept that varies the different shades tone-on-tone.
H igh-quality office- and commercial space, complemented by event
space and catering facilities, was created on the site of the historic
Postbahnhof in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district, incorporating the listed
railway viaduct, the railway turntable and the water tower. In designing

the elongated round arch of the railway viaduct and reinterpreted it in
an independent, modern architectural and material language. After a
multi-stage pitch process, the Seel Bobsin Partner office was awarded
the contract for the planning and implementation of the interior design
of this truly complex project. The Hamburg-based firm designed almost
all of the usage areas in close consultation with the respective future
user groups. In doing so, they created varied working environments that
equally manage to meet the requirements of collaborative as well as
concentrated working methods. Visitors enter the complex via the two-
storey lobby in the impressive railway viaduct. Plant islands, individual
seat groups and a striking, ribbon-like seating landscape structure the

as open-plan workspaces and feature flexible work areas tailored to all
the different requirements. The central functional cores each accommo-
date pantries, sanitary facilities and retreat niches and are highlighted
by acoustically effective wall coverings in colours that change from floor
to floor. On the upper floors, variable event- and meeting areas com-
plement the space on offer, with the cafeteria with its own bar and a
roof terrace on the sixth floor being a particular highlight. The historic
water tower, which is located next to the former railway turntable, was
also included in the redesign and reimagined as a separate space with
a sequence of rooms including a play oasis, creative room and relaxa-
tion lounge – an extraordinary retreat with history, matching an extra-
ordinary working environment. Everywhere, importance was attached
to harmonious interaction with the architecture, sustainable, regional
