CONCERT AGENCY
IN HAMBURG
For more than 60 years, Karsten Jahnke Konzertdirektion
has been an established name that is well known in the
entire music scene since it is successfully staging around
1,300 concerts by renowned artists each year. For its new
office premises, the family-run business intended to com-
bine a practical working environment with a prestigious
communal area and a public ticket office.
W ith an eye on the spirit of the times and the future, company
founder Karsten Jahnke has been running the concert agency
since 2014 alongside his grandson Ben Mitha, and recently moved the
45-strong team to the creative heart of Hamburg, between Sternschanze
and St. Pauli. There, a multifunctional workspace awaited them, which,
particularly on the ground floor, accessible to the public, visibly com-
bines a musical affinity with a sense of reliability and professionalism
– designed by the Berlin-based creative studio Kinzo. The open-plan
floor in exposed concrete brings together the ticket office with a stylish

and a lounge with an elongated table beneath expansive lampshades.
A curtain reminiscent of a stage offers the option of separating the ticket
office from the flexibly furnished as well as usable lounge area, whilst
framed posters highlight the artistic and organizational standards of the
management. Bathed entirely in the company’s corporate identity colour,
an orange spiral staircase also winds its way up to an office level for the
ticketing department, separated by maritime pine and glass. The remai-
ning workstations are located on the two upper floors. In contrast to
the urban charm of the ground floor, both planners and clients priori-
tized a subtle colour scheme and furnishings featuring classics already
in use within the company – such as Eiermann table frames and USM
sideboards – for focused work in individual and team offices. Additional
storage space is produced through clever built-in units in offices, corri-
dors and break areas, made from glazed wood-based materials in green
and greige. In an effort to accommodate all age groups and working
styles within the team, bespoke and acoustically separated zones were
designed by adding glass partitions, planted room dividers and curtains,
all tailored to specific usage requirements. To ensure optimal acoustics,
appropriate panels were also installed and – where reasonably possible
– acoustic sprayed plaster was applied. In this way, Kinzo has achieved
a working environment that exudes tranquillity and intimacy, yet also
