                                                                                    the agency’s values for the creative agency Banda.


                                                                                    I n the heart of Kyiv, the advertising agency found its ideal office space in
                                                                                      a building that dates from the early 20th century and is on a street that
                                                                                    has become a hub for modern businesses and young creatives. By cle-
                                                                                    verly reducing the existing structure to its load-bearing walls, a spacious
                                                                                    floor plan resulted, consisting of three larger rooms and one smaller
                                                                                    room. The latter now serves as a reception area. Oak panelling along
                                                                                    the walls welcomes guests and employees with the feel of a conservative
                                                                                    office. Hidden behind the wood panelling, however, are generous built-
                                                                                    in cupboards, and the translucent room divider not only showcases the
                                                                                    stainless-steel reception desk but also functions as a cloakroom. The
                                                                                    rest of the office space has a rather homely atmosphere, underlined by
                                                                                    vintage furniture and Ukrainian art. Elements such as a platform, whose
                                                                                    flexibility allows it to be used as a stage for events and lectures, or cubes
                                                                                    set against the wall, the second level of which can be accessed via a lad-
                                                                                    der, contrast with the – at first glance – rather conservative appearance.
                                                                                    Heavy curtains allow the work area to be separated from the rest of the
                                                                                    premises. Group tables and lounge areas support the desk-sharing prin-
                                                                                    ciple, while the gallery on one of the two additional integrated volumes
                                                                                    houses the only permanently furnished workstations with monitors. In
                                                                                    the communal dining area, a space where the team gathers throughout
                                                                                    the day, the curved stainless-steel counter, a wooden kitchenette and
                                                                                    the rough brick walls produce a relaxed atmosphere where employees
                                                                                    can unwind among large plants that gently zone the space and offer a
                                                                                    visual retreat from the workday rhythm. The second cube at the rear of
                                                                                    the agency premises houses a meeting room with a model-making work-
                                                                                    shop and two telephone booths, whose doors with rounded glass inserts
                                                                                    pay homage to the Kyiv tramways. For acoustic reasons, the telephone
                                                                                    booths are lined with fluffy carpet on the inside and, between them, a
                                                                                    steel staircase reminiscent of a pool ladder leads to the so-called Cloud
                                                                                    Lounge. Here, the floor and walls are covered with cloud-like mats, allo-
                                                                                    wing the team to change their perspective “above the clouds” and find
